[ Jayce told Caitlyn he would be at the party a little bit later (promised, even) but he had a couple things he wanted to accomplish before he went out. He picks up a few items around the house (knocked around by the cats, of course) and puts them back into their places. He's otherwise pretty quiet when he makes his way to their room. Viktor will hear him, though - he knows what Jayce's footsteps sound like. He shifts, moving to lean against the door frame.

His smile is soft. ]

Want to join me at the party? Whatever it may be. Could be fun.

[ Probably at least better than anything he would have gone to in Piltover. ]

[ Viktor is, of course, working in some manner of the word. He's mostly scribbling on sheets of paper about the potions and the crystals when Jayce walks in. He coughs lightly into his hand as he smiles back at the other, unable to help himself when he sees Jayce sporting a genuine smile like that.

They are fleeting and rare these days, but it's not entirely surprising considering what he knows now. ]

Parties are not really my, eh, thing, Jayce. But...I suppose I can be persuaded to go together if that is what you want. Fun is relative, but I think we both know this place will make it interesting at least.

[ He steps forward, moving to lean over to press a kiss to the top of Viktor's head. He leans to peek over his shoulder to see what it is he's working on. He feels...good today. ]

I know they're not. Not me, either. Not anymore.

[ He looks towards the door. ]

But I'd like to go with you. Working on anything I can help you with?

[ Oh. Well, that's how they're starting this day, then? Viktor easily flushes under the kiss as he looks away and smiles ever so slightly. ]

Then I will. If that is what you want.

[ He looks backs towards his notes. ] Mm. No. Simply rewriting notes I have gotten on the potions here. There is a young man here who shows promise in regards to science and the like. [ He's not sure if Jayce has met Senku yet, but he thinks they would get along. ] But that can wait. Party, yes?

[ He moves to get up, grabbing his crutch as he looks back at Jayce. Nothing but love and adoration in his eyes. ] I suppose there is to be a dress code. I. I have nothing suitable for such events. Maybe they will have some things there for us to use?

Hm. Well —

[ An amused shift. ]

All I want is to have you at my side. I don't actually care where that is.

[ Sappy, but true. He doesn't care at all where they're going to be. He's mostly just happy to be with Viktor. But he is going to the party because if he doesn't, he's certain Caitlyn will have a word or two to say about that. ]

I think I saw him. We can look over things later, maybe?

[ He looks Viktor up and down, considering him.]

I heard something about outfits being provided. You already look amazing, though.

[ Okay, neither of them are exactly dressed for a fancy party of any kind. He's glad that outfits are a part of what's being provided. ]

We have a few minutes, though. No need to rush out the door.

Well, you do have me, so that is one want satisfied. [ An amused look that turns a little bit frazzled. Despite how long they've been together here, whenever Jayce compliments his looks, it always takes Viktor off guard. The genuine sincerity of it all still manages to surprise him even now. ]

And I am sure that whatever is provided to us will make you even more unfairly handsome, and I will have to share that with the general populace, which is, might I say, entirely unfair.

[ It's not that he minds, but he does tend to get a bit jealous when others look a bit too long at Jayce. Even when they were just partners, there was that undeniable feeling of jealousy tightening within his chest. He gives Jayce a curious once-over before he finally turns in his seat. ]

No? I thought you came in here to get me. If not the case, then...there is something else?

[ Jayce will never stop complimenting Viktor, he realizes. He enjoys the way he reacts to them and Jayce thinks that the man very well deserves each and every one of them. His expression softens at Viktor's words, and hand shifting up to cup his cheek. ]

Maybe others will see me, but the only one I'm looking back towards is you. [ A small reassurance. It's earnest as he always is when they talk. His mind is racing, searching for the words. ]

There was. I was thinking. [ A huff. ] Dangerous, I know. I was thinking about how people from Zaun don't have family names.

[ He didn't have anything to show for with his next words. He didn't plan ahead, not really anyway. He didn't need to, either. He didn't need to take time to think it over or plan - but he also didn't need to because he was certain of Viktor. ]

So I was wondering if you wanted to have mine.

[ He's sure Viktor will understand what that means. ]

Very dangerous. [ Viktor's own heart jumps when Jayce cups his cheek like that and speaks those words. His eyes flickered with adoration as if Jayce had hung the stars. It's never really different from his usual glances when Jayce isn't looking, but now he's doing more in front of him than he used to.

Those feelings of longing and wanting, yearning and loving, are all reciprocated in a fashion that Viktor never thought possible or even considered. But then those words come out of Jayce's mouth, and his face heats up like a furnace.

He knows exactly what that means. ] Jayce. [ His voice wavers, quivers, as he looks away abruptly. This is no small thing to propose. And it was exactly that a proposal from a man he thought he could never in any life have.

His own hand rises to gently settle over Jayce's, and it's a little shaky but otherwise fine. ] You understand the implications of such a thing, and you are choosing me? Even though I am...not in perfect health?
Is that...alright? [ He gives him a worried look. ]

I would want nothing more than that. [ But is the burden too much, he wonders. ]

[ He breathes out, not really realizing he was holding it in until he hears Viktor's answer. He's glad the man understands his question without having to ask it again. He's steady where he stands and his voice is calm. He's confident in his words: ]

I understand what this means, Viktor. [ Sincere. Jayce is a terrible at hiding his true feelings, so if he didn't mean it — Viktor would know by now. ] I choose you. And I'd choose you every time no matter what tomorrow or beyond holds.

[ He's pretty sure it's a yes. They never really talked about wanting something like this, so Jayce wasn't certain what Viktor would say, but he had a good feeling it would be a yes. ]

Sorry that I don't have a...uh, ring or anything. Yet. [ He'll make them. ]

Even knowing that my disease progresses, you are still fine with this? With...me? You never fail to surprise me, Jayce.

[ Ah. He sounds so heartfelt and hopeful as he asks that question, like he doesn't think it's a good idea, and yet he wants so very much to have this with the time he does have left. But Jayce's answer does solidify things, puts them into perspective, too.

He leans into Jayce's hand with a soft huff before closing his eyes and leaning in to kiss him, gentle at first. ]

Hah. Are you acting on spur-of-the-moment decisions? I would never have guessed. [ That just makes Viktor even more smitten, honestly. He's also teasing as he places his hands on Jayce's chest. ]

I couldn't care less about rings right now anyway. [ He presses further against the other. ] I am afraid we might be a bit late to that party. Close the door.

I asked this knowing that.

[ It's more than the disease - it's how their lives would progress. It's the pain they would both endure that lead them down the path that Jayce is on now. Even knowing everything, he'd still pick Viktor every time. Something about how it's better to lose love than never have it.

He smiles, pressing his hand to Viktor's cheek as he leans into that kiss, melting for a moment while it happens. ]

It is a little spur-of-the-moment. [ But really, how long has he known Viktor? How long has he loved Viktor. It's not really a surprising place where things to end up on this path. He shifts, stepping away to go close the door to the room, clicking a lock just in case. ]

I think it's fashionable to be late to parties anyway.

[ Which there's certainly some amusement in his tone when he says it. Because neither of them really care if it's fashionable. ]
